Army Command Headquarters issued a press release to clarify the news of “one more shot fired during gun salute due to stuck ammunition”.

In response to the media reports on “one more shot fired during gun salute due to stuck ammunition”, the 6th Army Command states today (27th) that the Gun Salute Company, belonging to the Guandu Area Command, in carrying out its military salute mission today, encountered a stuck ammunition problem in the 11th firing round of the 3rd cannon. Officers immediately followed emergency procedures and supplemented the shot with the 4th cannon to complete firing mission. However, due to the negligence of the nervous counter, one more shot was fired.

The 6th Army Command points out that the Gun Salute Company has routinely carried out trainings on responses to various emergency situations in order to cope with immense stress and carry out missions successfully. The Command apologizes for the negligence occurred in this mission, and promises to improve future equipment inspection and personnel training. The Command seeks support and encouragement from all citizens.
